Episode 1: Pilot:  "What kind of 100 days has it been Donald?"

Released:  May 7, 2017

Bill and Dennis delve into the President's first 100 days. Did he do as well as he says he has?  We'll look at some "alternative data" that suggests otherwise.  We'll also talk a bit about his cabinet selections, "The Good, The Bad, and The Woefully Inept".  We'll introduce the first beer in our podcast series of rating beers according to our special rating system.  Finally, we'll also talk some baseball, and discuss our home team, the Texas Rangers, along with the rest of the AL West division in depth.

Episode 2:  Sanctuary Cities

Released May 20, 2017

Dennis does a solo episode while Bill is out looking for a new beer to review.  The topic of Sanctuary Cities is a controversial one.  Many, from the President to several governors and citizens in the various states are opposed to Sanctuary Cities. But, what exactly are they?  Dennis discusses what a Sanctuary City is and what the recent law signed in Texas are intending to do about them.  Where you line up on the issue?

Episode 3:  Apocalypse Trump?

Released:  May 21, 2017

Holy cow!  What a rash of headlines pouring out concerning Russians, the firing of James Comey, the appointment of Bob Mueller as a Special Counsel, Flynn taking the Fifth, Trump in Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican. There is so much going on that it is difficult to keep up.  Washington has ground to even more of a snail's pace regarding getting anything positive done while everyone is lawyering up, trying to clean up Donald Trump's tweets, and the disclosures of classified information to the Russians in the Oval Office.  It's only been about 120 days since the Donald took the oath folks, it seems like 120 years.

On a lighter side, we'll be reviewing our 2nd beer, Cotton Mill Gold Pale Ale, a local beer (at least local to us here in the Dallas, Texas area) brewed in McKinney, Texas by the good folks at Tupps Brewing.   Light and crisp, Bill and I enjoyed a couple through the broadcast.  It helped ease the pain from the political discussions.  Also, we had two uninvited guests, my labrador mixes, Molly and Gracie, who decided to join the podcast for a couple of minutes.

Our beloved and beleaguered Texas Rangers had a 10 game winning streak, and look poised to get back in the division race.  Their strong level of play while three of the big stars are on the disabled list is a topic of discussion in the baseball segment.

We hope you like Episode 3.  Thanks!

Episode 4: - Paris?  Nah, I'm Pulling Out!

Released: June 8, 2017

Bill and Dennis discuss the most recent adventures in Trump World, including the withdrawal from the Paris Accord.   We rate a new local beer, "Dallas Blonde", from Deep Ellum Brewing Company, and of course, we discuss our beloved Texas Rangers, who have recently been in a bit of a slump.

Episode 5:  It Was Fifty Years Ago...

Released: June 10, 2017

In this special episode, Dennis and Bill forego the usual blather about politics, beer and baseball and instead discuss the hallmark event of the 50th Anniversary of the release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band by the Beatles.  A masterpiece work, the album, released in June of 1967, set a standard for music production that is still influencing music today.  Joining us to discuss the album is our very special guest, Judy Sherrard, Dennis' better half, who remembers hearing it for the first time on a broken stereo and not being quite sure of what to make of the record.  We hope you enjoy the trip back to the year of Free Love, Flower Power and of course The Beatles' great work.

Episode 6:  Yet Another Week of Senseless Shootings

Released: June 18, 2017

Welcome to Episode 6.  Sadly, we will be talking about the shooting that occurred in Alexandria, Virginia where a "nut with a gun", shot and injured several people while members of the Republican Caucus in Congress, their staffers and others were practicing for the annual charity game between the House Democrats.  The shooter, evidently driven by some political rage, shot Congressman Steve Scalise, who is the House Majority Whip in the Congress.   Thankfully, Representative Scalise is at a level in the House where he is assigned a security detail. Members of the Capitol Police, who were assigned to Representative Scalise were able to subdue and eventually stop the assailant from causing more injury.   Bill and Dennis also discuss the "gun" issue in the country at large.

Other topics covered: The ongoing saga of the Trump/Russian affair, some talk around Healthcare, and of course the most bizarre cabinet meeting in history.  On the lighter side, Bill and Dennis review a new beer, Pukachev's Cobra, a craft beer from the great state of California, and finally, we discuss the national pastime and catch up on our Texas Rangers as well as taking a spin around the league.   So, pop a cold one, sit back and enjoy!

Episode 7:  Tweeter in Chief?

Released: July 4, 2017

Happy 4th of July!

OK, so here's our 4th of July Episode.  We're breaking the usual format with an episode entirely devoted to Politics. The reason?  There is so much to talk about since our last broadcast.  Tweets of a bizarre nature, a conspiracy theory that NASA has to deny, the ongoing saga of the Non-Care Healthcare efforts in the Senate, the suspicious request from a sinister sounding commission on "Voter Integrity", and finally, yet another mass shooting to discuss.  There's so much to unpack, we're splitting out the beer and baseball segments into independent episodes.  So, while you're grilling the burgers and the dogs, popping a cold one or two, getting ready to set off the fireworks (be careful!), tune us in and give this one a listen.  Bill and Dennis hope you have a safe, happy and relaxing 4th of July.   USA! USA! USA!

Episode 8:  It's Zomer Time!

Released July 4, 2017

From the Lakewood Brewing Company website:

"In summer, Belgians head to the nearest beach, while Texans typically race towards the nearest source of shade. That’s because the European sun is far friendlier than the fiery ball glowing over the Lone Star State. Combat the heat with our Zomer Pils. Brewed with Belgian pilsner malt and dry hopped with a combo of Lemondrop and noble hops, this traditional pilsner is light, crisp, and refreshing with a citrusy zing. So let that sun keep on burning."

Bill and I agree with the notes from the Lakewood Brewing company.  A little heavier than most Pilsners in my experience, more like an IPA.  Give it a try!

Episode 9: Two Old Guys Drinking Beer and Picking All Star Teams!

Released:  July 4, 2017

I've found there is nothing that can get a baseball fan's temperature up like picking the best players across decades.  There are so many incredibly talented ball players to choose from.  Well, get ready folks, because in honor of the upcoming 87th MLB All Star Game, Bill and I have decided to do just that. We pick from the best players since the 1950's and load up our teams with the talent that would make George Steinbrenner cry if they weren't on his team.  We load up with Hall of famers, Home run kings, base hitting machines, pitchers with thunderbolts in their arms and then discuss what makes them so special.   Join us for a trip to the ball park and reminisce with about players such as The Splendid Splinter, The Mick, The Say Hey! Kid, The Captain, and on and on.

If you love baseball as much as Bill and I do, I think you will enjoy this episode.  Let us know what you think, and Play Ball!

Episode 11: Revolving Door at the White House

Released Saturday, August 12, 2017

Well, it's happened again.  We take a week off and the entire Trump Administration does another shuffle of resources.  The "Mooch" is out, Reince is out, John is in, and Trump is once again shown to be the con-man that he is.  Bob Mueller is on the case, a Grand Jury is impaneled in Washington D.C. and starting to deliver subpoenas.  John McCain gives a big F.U. to the so called "Health Care" bill with a dramatic thumbs down in the Senate Chamber.

Bill and I drink and discuss Shannon's Fire Brewed Irish Red, a very good Red Ale from the good folks at the Shannon Brewing Company in Keller, Texas.

Finally, we round out the episode with an up-note. Our current most favorite Texas Ranger, 3rd Baseman Adrian Beltre joined the elite hitters in Major League Baseball by obtaining this 3,000th career hit.  We discuss Adrian's feat, Yu Darvish's departure to the L.A. Dodgers, and the overall status of the major leagues.

Join us won't you?  First as a warning, do yourself a favor and open a can of Shannon's Fire Brewed Irish Red before listening to the Politics segment.  Bill and I wish we had, because we had a severe headache from all the nonsense we had to discuss.

As always, thanks for listening.

Dennis

Episode 12: Tragedy in Charlottesville

Released August 23, 2017

OK, we've had a terrible event transpire with the death of a young woman and the injuries to multiple people at the hands of a young white supremacist at a protest in Charlottesville, Virginia.  What's it all about?  Bill and I get into this and more.  North Korea is rumbling, a lot of folks are fairly tense about the "war" of words between the President and Kim Jun Un, the "Dear Leader" of North Korea.

We get into all of the politics of the week, talk about some beer, and of course wind up with some baseball.

Oh, by the way, we have a special guest for the episode.  None other than Johnny Shipwreck himself, the composer and producer of the music used on Two Old Guys Drinking Beer! stops by for a brew and to join the conversation.   PS., Johnny is also known as Jack Sherrard, who is Dennis's son.   We're happy to have him along for the ride.

Sit back, give it a listen and as always, we'd love to hear from you.

Episode 13:  The Interview - Syndey Friedrichs

Released August 28, 2017

This week, we forego the usual political, beer and baseball talk and concentrate on an organization here in the local area where Two Old Guys Drinking Beer! is produced.   Pathfinders, is a non-profit organization that works with the local Drug Court in Tarrant County, Texas to provide mentoring support for inmates incarcerated for drug offenses.  The organization works with male and female inmates both while they are incarcerated and upon their release.  The work Pathfinders does is extremely important in our neighborhood in that it helps support those coming out of the Intensive Drug Treatment programs as they move on with their recovery and attempt to get back into a life focused on their families, their schooling and their jobs.

With us for the interview is Sydney Friedrichs, a mentoring coordinator who works with the people who are engaged in the IDT program within Tarrant County. Sydney is a remarkable young woman doing terrific work and Pathfinders is a remarkable organization worthy of looking into.  Please give the interview a listen, and check out Pathfinders on the web at www.pathfinderstc.org.

Thanks and we hope you enjoy the interview.

Episode 14: Harvey, Irma, DACA and more!

Released September 15th, 2017

This episode has a lot of content.  Thankfully, not much on Donald Trump.  However there is a lot of discussion about another couple of entities full of hot air, Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.  We also discuss Mr. Trump's decision on DACA, and then Bill and I wade into the hive of scum and villainy that is the Texas Legislature.

Stay tuned for the Beer and Baseball segment.  There was so much content in the political world this episode we broke the format into a couple of different episodes.  Thanks for listening.

Episode 15:  Baseball and Beer!

Released September 15th, 2017

So, this is an abbreviated episode where we leave off the politics and focus on baseball and beer. We are joined by my brother Bob, and three of his buddies who were up from Austin to go to the Rangers game.   We had a lively conversation about the majors, then Bill and I reviewed Rahr & Sons Texas Red, an American Amber from the folks that brought us Ugly Pug, which has been our favorite beer we've reviewed so far.   So, join in and enjoy.

Episode 16: Puerto Rico, Trump's Beef with the NFL and a Special Comment

Released October 4th, 2017

OK, so a longer episode focused on the issues in Puerto Rico, the ongoing nonsense with the protests and Donald Trump's temper tantrum with the NFL.   A special comment regarding the shooting in Las Vegas and More.

Episode 17: Santo Black Kolsch and a Sad Ending to the 2017 Season

Released October 4th, 2017

An abreviated episode where Bill and I discuss Santo Black Kolsch, a dark beer with a very distinct taste.  Yet another Texas based craft brewery offering has been weighed and measured by Two Old Guys Drinking Beer!  Guess What?  We Liked It!

Episode 18:  Undoing Obama, Another F'ng Mass Shooting, and Oh Harvey!

Released October 21st, 2017

Well, a lot of stuff in this episode.  Bill and I discuss what seems to be a theme of Mr. Trump which is to undo the Obama Legacy.   We talk about his refusal to certify the Iran deal, the continued assault on the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare), the rescinding of the Clean Power plan executive order from the Obama Administration and much more.   Unfortunately, we have to talk about another damned mass shooting, this time the worst in modern American history, where a lunatic with enough weapons to start a small war, shot and killed 58 people, while wounding over 600.   And if that isn't enough, we discuss a disgusting, fat, white, powerful man who has been consistently sexually assaulting and abusing women for decades. No, not Donald Trump, but movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.  We discuss another local brew, this time from Denton Texas called "Bulletproof", and while we fully intended to talk about baseball, your's truly screwed up the recording so we can't publish that segment.   Not to worry though, we substituted a small tribute to Tom Petty, who on October 2nd, passed away from complications of cardiac arrest.  So pop the top of a cold one, give us a listen and let us know what you think.

Episode 19: Mueller Sends a Message, Trumps all a Twitter

Released October 31st, 2017

We're back with a single episode of politics, beer and baseball.  Bob Mueller, Special Counsel investigating the 2016 election interference from the Russians and potential collusion from the Trump Campaign, has filed his first set of indictments of the investigation.   Of course President Trump wasn't happy about it.   We talk about the indictments, talk about taxes, talk about General Kelly's less than stellar performance regarding the interaction with the widow of a U.S. Soldier killed in Niger.

On the lighter side, we discuss a new brew with a Rock and Roll connection from right here in Fort Worth, Texas.  And, we are back with the baseball talk.  This time it's discussing the World Series where the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros are having one heck of a series.   So, pop the top of a cold one, settle in and give the episode a listen.  Enjoy!

Episode 20: Taxes, Pervy Candidates and Trump Troubles

Released November 21st, 2017

Well, another two weeks into the Administration from Crazytown, and we have perhaps a more pervy candidate running for U.S. Senate in Alabama than we did in last year's Presidential election.   I'm talking to you Donald.  Also, Bill and I discuss taxes, we have to talk about yet another mass shooting, and much more.  It's probably a good idea to have a drink of something alcoholic while listening, because all the crazy will make your head hurt.

Episode 21: What a World Series!

Released November 21st, 2017

Bill and I review Weekend Warrior Pale Ale, from Karbach Brewing company in Houston, Texas.  We also have our World Series Recap, and believe it or not, we discuss football for just a little bit.... Enjoy.

Episode 22:  A Dem in Alabama!  Taxes are Getting Cut, and Bye Bye, Net Neutrality.

Released on December 20, 2017

Merry Christmas from Two Old Guys Drinking Beer!

Wow, we have a lot to get into in this episode.  First of all, an earthquake in Alabama where Doug Jones, a Democrat, defeats Roy Moore in the special election for Senate.   WE discuss the pending tax bill before Congress, say goodbye to Net Neutrality and review a new beer called Chief Justice Stout, from the Legal Draft Beer company in Arlington, Texas.   Enjoy!
